Youth Engagement and Empowerment at the 6th Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF)

Hosted by WGYD - African Union Women Youth and Gender Directorate

AU Organisation
July 23, 2024 to August 15, 2024

The African Union (AU) has prioritized youth development through initiatives like the 1 Million Next Level and Women and Youth Financial and Economic Inclusion. These aim to empower African youth by providing education, employment, entrepreneurship, engagement, and health and wellbeing opportunities. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) also recognizes the importance of youth empowerment, as evidenced by the SADC Declaration on Youth Development and Empowerment (2015). The SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) works to advance regional integration and youth development in SADC countries. Zimbabwe's Ministry of Youth, Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training is committed to skills development and creating opportunities for young people. The upcoming 6th SADC Youth Forum in Harare, Zimbabwe, presents an opportunity to collaborate and drive youth empowerment in the region.
