Advancing Gender Equality in Data Governance and Policymaking for the Domestication of the AU Data Policy Framework

Hosted by Pollicy

AU Organisation
April 22, 2025 to December 31, 2025

The overarching project focuses on advancing inclusive, harmonized African digital and data policies that promote gender equality in governance and policymaking. This initiative, led by Pollicy in collaboration with i4policy, aims to enhance the capacity of African Union (AU) Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and stakeholders to engage in gender-sensitive data governance practices, especially as they move to domesticate the AU data policy framework. This project collaboration is deeply aligned with the African Union's Agenda 2063, which emphasizes the importance of leveraging digital transformation for socio-economic development while ensuring inclusivity and gender equality.

This collaboration between Pollicy and i4policy centers around Objective 4 of Pollicy’s Afro-feminist Data Governance Program, which aims to promote gender equality in data governance and policymaking towards the domestication of AU Data Policy Framework, which specifically focuses on providing conceptual support for the topics of participation, gender, and data governance.
