Youth: Young people constitute majority of the population in Africa and have the creativity, vibrancy and capacity to potentially transform Africa. The African Union recognizes youth as key drivers in the realization of Agenda 2063, Africa’s blueprint for inclusive and sustainable development. Youth make up over 60% of Africa’s population and their active involvement in policy processes is vital for long-term success.

This engagement seeks to create structured opportunities for youth participation in the implementation and monitoring of Agenda 2063. It aims to amplify youth voices, incorporate their innovations, and institutionalize youth-led accountability mechanisms.

Activities

  • Creating youth advisory councils within AU organs working on Agenda 2063
  • Facilitating co-creation sessions between AU technical bodies and youth
  • Conducting youth-led evaluations of Agenda 2063 national programs
  • Funding youth innovations aligned with Agenda 2063 goals
